Vani Bahl

Founder & Design Principal

Vani Bahl is a designer and builder whose work is shaped by more than 29 years of experience across the United States and India. Her approach is rooted in a simple conviction: the most enduring homes are not defined by a particular style, but by how thoughtfully they respond to the people who inhabit them, the land they belong to, and the way life unfolds within them.

Her design sensibility was formed through an unusual intersection of influences. Early in her career in India, Vani worked on the conservation and restoration of significant historic properties, developing an appreciation for proportion, material, craftsmanship, and the quiet imperfections that give a place character. That foundation continues to inform her work today—not through imitation of the past, but through a pursuit of the same sense of permanence, authenticity, and belonging.

Vani approaches each home as an individual composition. Light, material, landscape, proportion, and detail are considered together, allowing the design to emerge naturally from its setting and from the lives of the people who will call it home. Rather than imposing a signature aesthetic, she seeks to uncover what is distinctive about each client and place, translating it into spaces that feel deeply personal yet effortless.

Her perspective is further distinguished by her experience on both sides of the building process. As a California licensed General Building Contractor, Vani carries the design vision beyond the drawing board and into the realities of making. Materials are considered not simply for how they appear, but for how they meet, weather, age, and are crafted. Details are conceived with an understanding of how they will ultimately be built. This continuity between design and execution allows the original intent to remain present through every stage of the project.

Sustainability is woven into that thinking. A LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP BD+C), Vani believes responsible design and luxury are not competing ideas. True luxury lies in quality, comfort, natural light, thoughtful use of resources, enduring materials, and spaces designed to remain relevant for generations.

Above all, Vani considers the creation of a home an intensely personal collaboration. She listens closely—not only to what clients ask for, but to how they live, what they value, what they have collected, and what they hope their home will become. The goal is not simply to deliver a beautiful house, but to create something unmistakably theirs.

Aurelio T. Alegria, SE

Structural Engineer and Civil Engineer

Aurelio T. Alegria is a highly experienced structural engineer whose career spans more than five decades of hands-on structural design. Licensed as a Structural Engineer and Civil Engineer in California, his work encompasses an unusually broad range of structures—from residential and commercial buildings to hospitals, industrial facilities, bridges, retaining structures, heavy-equipment foundations, and rail transit infrastructure.

Throughout his career, Aurelio has remained deeply involved in the technical aspects of engineering and design. He is proficient in timber, reinforced concrete, structural steel, and masonry, bringing both extensive technical knowledge and practical judgment to the projects he undertakes. His residential experience includes more than 400 homes, encompassing new construction, additions, alterations, renovations, and structural retrofits.

Aurelio’s professional career includes leadership roles with major engineering organizations. He served as Associate Principal Engineer / Senior Structural Engineer with Washington Group International, formerly Morrison Knudsen Corporation, and earlier led the Civil/Structural Department at Rogers Engineering Company in San Francisco. His work has included power-generation facilities, electric rail transit support structures, geothermal facilities, hospital renovations, and complex industrial projects.

In residential design, Aurelio brings the depth of this large-scale engineering experience to the individual home. His approach is practical and disciplined: understand how the building needs to perform, develop an efficient structural solution, and coordinate the engineering closely with the overall design intent.

Aurelio earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Mapúa Institute of Technology in Manila. He has been a California Civil Engineer since 1978 and a California Structural Engineer since 1986. He is a Life Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California (SEAONC). For twenty years, from 1987 through 2007, he also served as a grader for the California Structural Engineers Examination.
